Who are we?

We are a group of dedicated and enthusiastic students studying in Singapore Management University (SMU) with diverse backgrounds, with a common goal of winning and raising the name of SMU in the dragon boating arena. Since our humble beginnings in 2005 with just 10 paddlers, Team SMU Dragon Boat (SMUDB) has grown to a current membership of over 50 members in July 20012. The team has matured and performed consistently in 2009 with podium finishes in all the races it competed in. SMUDB has successfully established itself as one of the most competitive tertiary teams and is fast gaining recognition as the team to watch in the dragon boat fraternity with its performance in local and overseas races.

What we do?

Besides competing out of school, SMUDB has also been a loyal supporter of school events such as the annual Runabout, Tug-of-War, Gravical and Tri-Challenge, often coming in top honours. Apart from being a competitive team, SMUDB also organises high quality events that were commended for its professionalism by co-organisers and participants. Prior to the collaboration with SAVA for MR500 (2008, 2009, 2010 & 2011), an annual national dragon boat and canoe race, SMUDB constantly reaches out to introduce the sport to the campus community by organising clinics and try-outs regularly.
